Guidelines for the Slide App¶
Guidelines for best practices for using the GEM debug slide functionality to progress through The Little Prince when using a stage smaller than the 22m x 11m stage size it was designed for.
There are a few things to keep in mind when using this debug tool. - Anything seen when using this tool does not reflect the experience. - Do not use slide on a hill, you will fall out of the world. - Do not use the slide to cross the boundaries between zones. - When and how much to slide can vary significantly depending on the size of the physical stage testing is being conducted.
Assuming a physical stage large enough to accommodate slightly more than two full zones (roughly 13 meters long by 8 meters wide), here are the best points to utilize the slide to successfully complete the entire Little Prince experience.
An important reminder: Do not use the slide to cross the boundaries between zones.
After the first elevator descent, remain on the elevator and slide forward, then walk back onto the elevator and slide forward again. You may need to repeat this multiple times.
Once the Well is completed and the waterfall opens, stand at the back side of the zone (by the well) and slide forward until next to the waterfall.
In the aviator scene, stand by the entrance archway, and slide forward until next to the plane.
Once the Aviator has pushed over the wing, signalling the transition to the next zone, stand on the right edge of the zone (away from the wing) and slide left until next to the wing. Cross the wing and proceed through the passage and up the hill to the Alchemist’s Tent.
Upon reaching the train, stand at the edge of the zone away from the train, and slide toward the train (since you will now be moving toward the front of the stage, press B on the slide app to slide in the desired direction).
Once the train is complete, once again stand on the side of the train away from the entrance to the Astronomer’s zone and slide toward the astronomer until next to the exit of the train.
After the Astronomer, stand at the edge of the zone away from the exit, and slide forward until next to the exit.
Once the fox encounter completes, stand at the right edge of the zone (if looking towards the hill where the Fox and the Prince are. This is the left side of the actual stage), and press R on the slide app to slide toward the entrance to the next zone.
Cross into the elevator for the snake encounter. After the Lamplighter and Geographer, stand at the edge of the zone toward the front of the stage and slide forward.
Repeat after the Drunkard and the Businessman.
After The King, stand at the right side of the stage and slide left (the same as when crossing the plane wing at the Aviator). Proceed through the Baobabs to the volcanoes.
After completing the Volcanoes, move to the side of the zone away from the hill and slide toward the hill (we’re moving toward the front of the stage again, so press B).
IMPORTANT: You will need enough physical space to go through the next two zones without sliding.
Repeat this move and slide until the hill is almost at the limits of the stage. If you slide while on the hill, you will fall out of the world. Proceed up the hill, water the rose, proceed through the tunnel, and down the ramp to the balloon, and you will finish the experience.
